Fennel belongs to family Umbelliferae or Apiaceae.It is commonly known as the carrot or parsely family.Fennel is an expensively cultivated winter herb.Herbaceous plant reaches upto 2meters in height with deep green feathery leaves and bears golden -yellow flowers in umbels.Seeds are harvested when their seeds heads turns light – brown.
